Dec 5, 2008 - choice tunes. just got this thing for $40 ! quite a steal having in mind it's seeming high quality. i just don't know if i need to run the tape directly under the head (rectangular piece that displays the model number ect.) or if i need to thread it through something up under there?? your help would be very appreciated

VintageTexas59 Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - Run the tape directly against the heads, enjoy your Akai.

Dec 5, 2008 - Very nice deck, love seeing it operate inside, cool music, too! I have the 1720W, the solid state version. It works good, but sadly the capstan sleeve is gone so I can only run it at 1 7/8 and 3 3/4 IPS.

Dec 5, 2008 - Thank you, made a visit to your page, and many nice decks in your collection
