Dec 4, 2008 - The girl in the yellow dress was Jeanne Coyne Kelly. She was married to Gene Kelly!

Tigerlily21 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Well Bob and Carol had the best music to dance to. Had ANn and Tony been assigned this music and dance they would knocked it out of the park too perhaps more.

Tigerlily21 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - I agree people are going to say Fosse and Carol Haley are the best but they had the best music to dance to. Tommy Rall is a better dancer than Fosse and Ann Miller is better than that girl.

Tigerlily21 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - The Fosse/Carol Haney part is definitely the best! It's really wonderful. I was disappointed in the Ann Miller/Tommy Rall part, both of them are such amazing dancers (even better than Fosse and Haney) that they should have given them something amazing to do, their part is boring compared to the Fosse part.

Tigerlily21 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - though ofcourse Fosse choreographed it so ofcourse it's amazing.

Dec 4, 2008 - Tommy Rall did one of his amazing leaps, and his and Ann Miller's part was flawless. Bob Fosse did his own choreography, and while Tommy Rall (the only surviving dancer in this trio) is the best dancer by far, and ranks at the top of the great movie dancers, Bob Fosse was one of the greatest choreographers, and thus he gave himself a fabulous piece to dance. Bobby Van was an amazing dancer (See "Small Town Girl", but Tommy was definitely the best.

Tigerlily21 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - agreed. Tommy Rall was probably the best dancer I've ever seen. Even better than Gene Kelly. But Fosse's choreography is SICK.

Dec 4, 2008 - Actaully, "From This Moment On" wasn't in the original Broadway production, it was written for Porter's next show (Out of This World). When the movie version of KMK was made in 53, they decided to add the song. When the 1999 revival came to Broadway, they included the this song (and yes, it is sung by the General). BTW, in 53 movie, the object of Lili's affection is a wealthy oil man from Texas rather than a General.

Juliaflo Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - I beg your pardon, but the wonderful Hermes Pan choreographed this number.

susieozbourne Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - I agree and the best female dancer is Cyd Charisse.

Tigerlily21 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - i agree with that too. Cyd Charisse is my favorite female dancer from cinema. I've seen her do so many different dance styles and all so effortlessly and brilliantly.

Julie101670 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Ann Miller is better than Carol HanNey? Sorry, I don't think so. Yes, Ann Miller was a great TAP dancer (not better than Eleanor Powell) but that's ALL Ann Miller could do. Carol Haney was versed in tap, ballet, jazz, you name it. The reason Ann Miller didn't dance to the music chosen for Fosse and Haney is because Ann Miller wasn't as strong a dancer as Haney. Miller could hardly keep up with Rall as they were leaping through the air towards the end of their duet.

Tigerlily21 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - I mean she was a better tap dancer than Carol Haney. But yeah Carol Haney had great timing and could do different dances. Sorry. And Fosse choreographed that last routine THAT'S why it was better, not because Fosse and Haney are better dancers than Miller and Rall (the best!) but because Bob Fosse's choreography is genius.

Tigerlily21 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - I mean Ann Miller was a better tap dancer than Carol Haney. She was the fastest tap dancer so I'm disappointed they didn't give her some better fast tap dancing routine to work with for their section. But yeah Carol Haney had great timing and could do a lot of different dances. Sorry. And Fosse choreographed that last routine THAT'S why it was better, not because Fosse and Haney are better dancers than Miller and Rall (the best!) but because Bob Fosse's choreography is genius.

milleranzo Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Fosse choreographed the section that he was in.

Tigerlily21 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - also that's not ALL Ann Miller could do. Ann danced all kinds of styles brilliantly throughout her career jazz, exotica, burlesque music, broadway music, spanish music, even 60's music. As for you saying Ann Miller couldn't keep up in her routine. Uh yeah she only held the record for the fastest tap dancer in the world and those tap spins were her trademark, she could do those all day like nothing. Anyone dancing with her as Astaire said, would have to keep up with HER. lol.

shadowmadow Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Actualy, even though Hermes Pan choreographed Kiss me Kate, Theportion offrom this Moment on" with Bob Fosse and darol Hhaney was Fosse'sown choreography. That 66 seconds of dance was the first time he did the choreography on a film.

Juliaflo Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - I guess we learn something new every day.Thank you, and BE SURE TO VOTE.

Gobbleknoll Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Great number. Fosse was to dance what Chaplin, Keaton, and Lloyd were to comedy and Fairbanks Sr. was to action. He made the dazzlingly difficult look effortlessly funny. And his partner Haney just missed out on the part Charisse dances in SINGIN' IN THE RAIN. Haney was mega-talented (she is also in ON THE TOWN with Kelly) but never got a big movie break (THE PAJAMA GAME hardly counts). She died early, just like Joan McCracken.

songofsummer69 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Fosse's segment has got to be one of the coolest things ever put on film.

Tigerlily21 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - I agree. And yeah Carol Haney had diabetes and she had alcohol problems and she overworked herself. Those three combined are not a good thing. I like her Steam Heat dance in the Pajama Game. Also choreogrpahed by Fosse.

MelanieAF Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - My favorite number from the movie, I can't choose a second. I love all the rest about equally-maybe "Always True To You"-depends on what I just watched. The dancing in this number is fantastic, that goes w/o saying-but I also adore the music-that bit right near the end of Fosse/Haney's number, I wish I knew how to describe the part I mean-always gives me a funny feeling in my stomach, it's so sophisticated, a world of cigarettes and cocktails in the sound. VERY Cole Porter, witty and knowing.

shoobedoorocketship Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - i thought they arranged the music around fosse's bit number, not the other way around.

Xeria Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - love this movie

SavealltheWhales Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - the choreographer, forget his name, somethin Pan, let them all make up their own parts at that part where they all dance.
