Here you'll see the groundbreaking Becker knives that established a new price point for such high performance blades. For what I do in the woods, I believe these blades will perform as well as production and semi-custom designs that cost many times as much. The Becker BK9 and BK7 are well made with high carbon 0170-6C steel, .188" thick blades tempered to a Rockwell hardness of 58-59. I have found this steel to very durable in the wilderness. The GV6H (glass filled nylon) handles are comfortable and removable as well. These knives hack, hammer, and split wood well and are almost to the level of a Cold Steel Trailmaster/Recon Scout...not quite because they're not full flat ground and are not quite 1/4" in thickness. The BK8 weighs out at 25.5oz in sheath, the BK7 is at 17.1 oz in sheath...not lightweights but in the ballpark. Sadly they are out of production with the demise of the Camillus Knife Company in 2007. You might them on secondary markets and they still are a real smart buy for survival blades. The Beckers were among the first blades to crank out such solid performance for around $50.Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 7 out of 10 (price considered)

Nov 23, 2008 - I have never been a fan of Becker knives. They just dont rock with me. The price is or was a great factor. Design never tickled me pink. As for the review, top notch. Excellent view and breakdown of the knife as always. Two big thumbs up

Nov 23, 2008 - Nice review, 5 stars. It's a shame Becker is out of business.

Nov 23, 2008 - Great blades. I actually have a BK-7 in desert tan on my left hip as i write this. I also feel the sheath is not of the same quality as the knife so I carry mine in a spec-ops brand combat master. Robert at survival sheaths is sending me a custom liner for it to give me that nice secure snap in retention. Also, you can store matches and fishing gear or other items in the removeable handles and carry an allen wrench in the pocket on the sheath! Awesome review Bro!!

Nov 23, 2008 - I can totally dig that. They are kind of goofy looking but they do get prettier out in the woods ;-). Thanks Jet.

Nov 23, 2008 - Becker and Ka-Bar are together now...well maybe on certain models according to the Ka-bar website.

jooishjoo Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - Yeah i saw that too, do you like Ka-bar knives?

killatony35 Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - Yup,great blades and prices,I have always been a fan of the USMC fighters

jooishjoo Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - Me too, I also like Gerber knives

killatony35 Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - I like Gerbers also, the designs are nice, but apparently their steal sucks,dunno...Im not the type to buy a bunch of knives, moneys to hard to come by these days.

jooishjoo Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - The steel on the big rock, lmf II, and prodigy are all good. The steel on the cheaper gerbers wont hold an edge.

killatony35 Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - Ah,I never tried those,I use to use a buck 110 but the tip of my knife broke off (dont know how) and I can get it fixed for free, but I havent sent it in,now Im carrying this cheap winchester folder I got for $3.00,eh its ok for EDC at the moment, but I need something better.

jooishjoo Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - yeah, buck 110 has a pretty thin tip

killatony35 Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - Im not sure how it broke,I believe my little 15year old cousin stabbed a killer tree and broke it,kinda pissed me off,but I let it go when Buck said they'd fix it for free.

ponysoprano Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - Yeah! Kabar just brought Becker back! I have the Camillus Companion model, Kabar re-released it and dubbed it the "champion", great knives, the Necker is awesome too, Kabar does a San Mai version.

turdburper Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - Not trying to split hairs, so to speak, but I'm from the Camillus area in New York, I was born in Syracuse, and it's actually pronounced -- kuh MILL'us ( like you'd say 'to kill us') as opposed to your CAM' uh luss. Anyway, just thought I'd mention it. Great video as usual! I'll keep my eye out in the used market, great knives! Too bad they didnt make a blade with a lighter in the handle, it could have been the BK Broiler. HAAAHAHAHAHAH!!!! Sorry, couldnt resist
